Let’s face it, even though this blog is about positivity.  There is nothing like a picked up and tidy house to clear the mind and help us think straight.  I was turned on to a show called, ‘Get Organized with The Home Edit’ on Netflix and it was absolutely satisfying to watch!  It was towards the end of the school year, and once summer hit I sent my babies to daycare for a couple weeks and I organized my entire house!  It was the best thing I ever did for my family and I because we weren’t weighed down by stuff anymore.  

Why decluttering your house is so important

I have heard someone say that everything we own actually takes up space in our brains because we have to mentally manage it.  Why do you think minimalists are always so happy?!  They are FREE!  We don’t realize how weighed down we can be by STUFF.  The first step to organizing our house is to declutter the items that we don’t have to manage anymore.  

No matter where you are in your decluttering journey, every little bit counts, and it can feel like you lost 20 pounds once you get rid of just 10 articles of clothing.  It’s something that makes you finally feel like you’re in control of something.  I started decluttering and home editing the year that my dad died, and while it doesn’t make the pain of loss any better there was a peace I had because of my organized and clutter free home.

Honestly, when we have less stuff we tend to not be so materialistic and have a lot less to “manage” when we get home. It’s a win-win for our kids, our husbands, and our whole family for that matter. If you want to live your best life, drowning in your own STUFF and everyone else’s isn’t the way to do it. Lets declutter one room and a time, and see what it does for just our mental health alone.
